Spring Break in San Diego: Kid-friendly Activities to Do

kids hiking in San Diego

The sun’s out and it’s time to get the kids off their gadgets and consoles and into the open. If you are in the San Diego area, you’re lucky with so many things to do here with the family during spring break.

  1. Explore the Outdoors.

  2. One of the best things to do with the family during spring break is to go outdoors. Some of the best kid-friendly trails in San Diego are:

You can feel the sun on your skin and the wind on your hair with nature walks or a bike ride with family and friends. Here are some tips to help you get the kids engaged:

  • Visit One of the Many Museums.

  • San Diego has many great museums that will delight and educate kids and adults. There’s the New Children’s Museum, where everyone from toddlers to teens can explore art. There’s the more traditional Museum of Us which has great exhibitions on the cultures of the ancient world. However, for spring and summer, we’d recommend The Children’s Discovery Museum, where children learn through play. Here, you’ll find a massive outdoor area where children can learn all about the natural world.

  • Plant Flowers and Vegetables.

  • You don’t necessarily need to go to an attraction or go on a trail to enjoy the outdoors. Make the most your immediate outdoors by planting flowers and vegetables in your very own garden. Buy some flowers and seeds, or just extract them from your fruits and vegetables, some soil, and kiddie-sized gloves. Then watch the kids engage in something that children rarely get a chance to do today, garden and grow organic life. Not only is this great fun, but observing the flowers grow and picking the harvest when they are ready is an often missed educational lesson.

Make the most of spring break by trying out these fun activities that the whole family can enjoy. If you’d like to know more about what’s great about San Diego and are considering exploring your real estate opportunities in the area, call us at 760.632.8900 or contact us here to learn more.
